TLA members include persons who graduated from Tufts University and who are either:
- Judges
- Members of the bar of any jurisdiction
- Received a law degree or
- Law Students
Membership in TLA is automatic pursuant to our bylaws. TLA's purpose is to create and foster a community and network of Tufts Alumni who have pursued a legal education. TLA encourages and educates about postgraduate legal studies for Tufts' students and provides programs for its members with a particular emphasis on educational and career matters related to justice, ethics, and the law. TLA organizes, administers, and promotes alumni educational and professional development meetings in cooperation with Tufts University's Office of Alumni Relations.
TLA maintains an opt-in directory of #JumboLawyers to assist in career and professional development. This directory is stored on this website and may be requested by emailing us at tuftslawyers@gmail.com.
TLA is led by a nine-person board of directors of diverse backgrounds and experience. In addition, TLA has regional steering committees in the following regions: New England, New York, Washington D.C., Florida, and West Coast. TLA also has two law student liaisons and and a liaison to the Tisch College. TLA also has committee opportunities for its members including:
- Public Interest & Social Justice Committee
- Programs and Events Committee
- Membership Committee
- Mentorship Committee

TLA's signature event every year on campus is Law Day on the Hill. During this event, two TLA Co-Chairs present a program in February/March for Tufts undergraduates. There is typically a panel discussion on a topic of interest, law student orientation programming, and networking opportunities among students and TLA member alumni.
